The Peter Wolf book was such a joy to read. Chapter after chapter is one amazing interaction after another, and while reading, one gets the constant whiplash of thinking "who gets to live like this?"
And yet, hardly mentioned is the fact that Wolf himself must be an amazingly interesting dude to be able to attract and keep these folks in his orbit throughout his life (the Monore anecdote aside - she was asleep).

Loved and Missed is exquisite and I’ve been giving it to everyone.
